More Than 50 Guns Seized and Four Men Charged in Illegal Firearms Trafficking Operation

SAN DIEGO – Four men appeared in federal court today and yesterday to face charges that they participated in a scheme to manufacture and traffic in firearms illegally, in some instances by assembling untraceable assault-style weapons in a defendant’s home and then selling the guns for thousands of dollars.

Shelton Man Sentenced to 70 Months in Federal Prison for Distributing Heroin 

Deirdre M. Daly, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that JERMAINE BUCHANAN, also known as “Hot Main,” 20, of Shelton, was sentenced today by Chief U.S. District Judge Janet C. Hall in New Haven to 70 months of imprisonment, followed by five years of supervised release, for distributing heroin.

61 Individuals Indicted for Drug Trafficking

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – On March 4, a federal grand jury in the District of Puerto Rico returned an indictment against 61 defendants charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute controlled substances in the municipalities of Manatí, Barceloneta, and Florida, PR, announced Rosa Emilia Rodríguez-Vélez, United States Attorney for the District of Puerto Rico.

Former Minneapolis School Cook Sentenced to 30 Months in Prison for Acting as Straw Purchaser for Convicted Felon

United States Attorney Andrew M. Luger today announced the sentencing of ANGELA CARTER, 33, to 30 months in federal prison for acting as a straw purchaser of two handguns. CARTER was indicted on May 12, 2014, and pleaded guilty on July 28, 2014, to one count of Causing a False Statement to be Maintained in the Records of a Federal Firearms Licensee. The defendant was sentenced on March 10, 2015, before Judge John R. Tunheim in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis, Minn.
