THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CHICAGO HAS ISSUED A WIND CHILL
ADVISORY, WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM TO 9 AM CST FRIDAY.
TIMING, MODERATE TO HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS WILL MOVE
EAST OF COOK COUNTY LATE THIS AFTERNOON.
SNOW ACCUMULATIONS, NEW SNOWFALL UP TO 1 INCH ACROSS SOUTHEAST
COOK COUNTY.
IMPACTS, SNOW COVERED ROADS AND AT TIMES SHARPLY REDUCED
VISIBILITY WILL LEAD TO DIFFICULT AND POSSIBLY TREACHEROUS
TRAVEL.
WIND CHILL VALUES, 20 BELOW TO 25 BELOW ZERO OVERNIGHT INTO
FRIDAY MORNING.
OTHER IMPACTS, FROST BITE CAN OCCUR IN 15 TO 30 MINUTES ON
EXPOSED SKIN AT THE LOWER END OF THESE WIND CHILL VALUES.
EXTENDED EXPOSURE WITHOUT PROPER CLOTHING WILL INCREASE THE RISK
OF HYPOTHERMIA.
